What to bring daily - bag lunch - swim wear - change of clothes - appropriate footwear - water bottle - sunglasses - sunscreen - hat - bug spray - towel Transportation Please refer to class descriptions for pickup and dropoff times. Children will not be left at dropoff sites if parents are not there. You will be required to pick your child up at the school North Entrance. If programs change or get cancelled, you will be notified via e-mail. We will also post on our facebook page, McGregor Community Education.

    McGregor Early Childhood would like to invite parents and children ages birth to age 5 to classes that are designed to strengthen family and support healthy emotional, social and developmental growth in children. Ongoing classes will provide parenting tips, social interaction and activities to support your growing child. Play is children's work. Sessions will incorporate play and movement; taking a deeper dive into what children learn during play and exploration.

    Grades 7-12 Sessions are held in the classroom of the scheduled teacher: Tues, Frauenshuh Science Rm 109 Wed, Gresczyk Ojibwe Language Rm 303, Thurs Wagner Science Rm 107. No pre-registration is required, however, a log of student check-in and check-out is recorded. Parents may be contacted is student is expected to attend on a specific day, and does not show up.

  • Swimming Lessons

    Swimming lessons - Big Sandy Water Institute 2023! Michelle Kennedy, Water Safety Instructor, brings years of experience as a swimmer and teacher. Fee: FREE this year thanks to a donation made by the McGregor Lion's Club Location: Located at Big Sandy Lodge & Resort Pool. See specific classes for location information below. Water Safety Instructor: Michelle Kennedy Lifeguard: Barb Marquardsen Transportation is not provided for this activity. ALL SESSIONS LIMITED TO 8 SWIMMERS Monday - Friday, June 3-7 (Level 1 students will be tested the first day to determine if child is a tadpole or leapfrog) 8:00am-Level 1 Tadpoles: Recommended ages: 3 years - 6 years - Water Exploration 9:00am-Level 1 Leapfrogs: Students must be 6 years old. Introduction to water skills; helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. 10:00am -Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills; builds on the skills learned in Level 1 and gives participants success with fundamental skills such as floating and basic locomotion. 11:00am - Tot Lessons: Introduce your little one to water as certified water safety instructor and lifeguard spend time with you and your child in the pool. Your child will learn how to splash, blow bubbles, paddle all while gaining confidence in the water. Monday - Friday, June 10-14 8:00am-Level 6: Swimming and skill proficiency; refines the strokes so participants swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 5: Stroke refinement:provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. 9:00am-Level 5: Stroke refinement:provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. 10:00am-Level 3: Stroke Development: builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice in deeper waters. 11:00am-Level 4: Stroke Improvement: develops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills.

    Thrive Center Summer Programming 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday's-Friday's starting June 3rd No transportation provided. Registration is required. Pre-registration is encouraged as spots will fill quickly, but limited walk-ins will be welcomed each day, if space is available. 10 Pre-registrations per age group Age groups are 6-8, 9-11, 12-17 Lunch will be provided each day for students in programming from 11:30-12:00. There will also be a lunch ONLY option - lunches must be picked up between 11:00-11:30am. The only days the Thrive Center will be closed will be June 19th, July 4th & July 5th. Brief overview of programming: Monday's - STEM, Art, Free Play, Gardening Tuesday's - 'On the Road' Learning days - Different field trips every week! Separate sign-ups will be sent once trips are finalized Wednesday's - STEM, Art, Free Play, Gardening Thursday's - AM: Cooking, STEM, Free Play PM: Ages 6-8 - Crafts/storytime/imaginitive play Ages 9+ - Archery at Minnewawa Sportsmen's Club Gun Range Friday's - AM: Make and Take Activities PM: Beach day (Alternate activities will be planned at the Thrive Center in case of bad weather)
