McGregor Preschool program provides early learning opportunities for students aged 3 through Kindergarten entry.
New to McGregor, Team Ascension Martial Arts welcomes young martial artists on Monday and Thursday to the McGregor school for an introduction to martial arts at the following class times. Students will be divided up by age and ability at the start of class. Classes will be run in a station rotation between two instructors.
Mon/Thurs
3:30 - 4:00 pm (4-6 year olds) Little Dragons: Introduction to martial arts with a special emphasis on confidence, resilience, balance and coordination, memory and listening skills, and building the discipline needed to try and successfully overcome challenging obstacles to mastery. While this class productively plays a lot with games, students will emerge with basic pragmatic communication skills knowledge, one basic open hand form, one bo staff form, and basic hand and footwork found in beginner boxing and point sparring classes. Students may register for 1x or 2x a week. 1x a week: Sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) using federal funding, CFDA 84.287, 21st Century Community Learning Centers at no cost to families 2x a week: $25/month 4:00 - 5:00 pm (7-9 year old) Tsugoku (White to Green Belt skill level) Follows description below. 5:00 pm - 6 pm (10 years old and up) Hashira Training Course: So you want to be a ninja?! Learn the basics of forms, weapons, and point sparring found in sport martial arts. Skills taught to mastery include hand and footwork striking techniques found in karate-do and Muay Thai. Special emphasis will be given to de-escalation and self defense techniques found in American Kenpo by Ed Parker. Come join the world champion instructors of Team Ascension martial arts for mentoring and mindset building in this five week course that lifts up not just grades but people for a lifetime. At the 5 PM hour, in addition to activities found in the Tsugoku training program, students will be challenged to black belt obstacle courses with an emphasis on athletic training without injury using martial arts and the importance of eating a clean diet with a results page in the curriculum to track strength and reaction.
